In this weekโs image, the photographer said they wanted to show how stylish and somewhat out of time and place the man was, and were surprised to see him in his dress coat and high hat alone on the empty square.

โI love the timeless feel of this image. Great work from the photographer. Personal I would have done a slight perspective correction to straighten the buildings in the background. A slight Dutch angle can be interesting but it doesnโt seem intentional here. I also love negative space but Iโm not sure the foreground adds anything to the image. I would be interested to hear what others think. Overall bravo!โ
โThere’s a feeling of disconnectedness due to the distance (my opinion). The thing that makes it feel more distance (and overall less about the man wearing the hat) is that he’s the darkest object in the photograph, making the buidlings in the backtround more important than him. I have no opportunity to engage the photograph as the human elements is too dark to see clearly. The duality of the architecture and his attire adds incongruity–which can be dynamic in itself. Cheers!โ
